BC Hockey announced Tuesday, September 2, 2014 the schedule for the 2014-2015 BC Major Midget League (MML) regular season. The season will officially launch Saturday, September 20, 2014 with five (5) games being played around the province.
The schedule is highlighted with two (2) Showcase Weekends on September 27-28, 2014 and January 24-25, 2015. Both Showcases will be held at the world-class Richmond Oval facility in greater Vancouver. The All-Star game has been cancelled for the 2014-2015 season, but the Showcase Weekends will offer a great opportunity to see the future of Canadian junior and professional hockey.
The 220 game regular season concludes on March 1, 2015 with the playoff battle for the Cromie Memorial Cup beginning March 6, 2015 and the championship series starting March 20, 2015. The Pacific Regional Championship will take place in British Columbia on April 3-5, 2015, where the BC MML champion will host the Alberta Midget Hockey League champion in a best-of-three series to determine the Pacific Representative at the TELUS Cup, which will be held in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec, from April 20-26, 2015.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship. BCMML alumni who are now in the National Hockey League include Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Vancouver North West Giants), Griffin Reinhart and Sam Reinhart (Vancouver North West Giants), and Brendan Gallagher (Greater Vancouver Canadians).
