2016 Coy Cup Dates
Friday, December 4, 2015

The 2016 Senior Male AA Championship, the Coy Cup, will take place March 22 – 26, 2016 at the Terrace Sportsplex in Terrace, BC.  It was earlier announced that the Terrace River Kings will host the historic Championship.

“Ice hockey is a popular sport in Terrace and North West BC.  The local games draw an amazing group of spectators of all ages, said Terrace Mayor, Carol Leclerc.  “The Coy Cup will provide the community’s residents with another opportunity to watch the River Kings in action and provide our youth with another chance to see their local idols skate for the Coy Cup.”

“Terrace is going to be an exciting place for those five (5) days in March,” commented BC Hockey Adult Male Coordinator, Trevor Bast.  “The community really comes together for big events like this and is looking forward to welcoming all the competitors and their friends and family.”

The River Kings play in the Central Interior Hockey League (CIHL), and were CIHL Champions during the 2014-2015 season, but lost the 2015 Coy Cup to the Fort St. John Flyers.

The Coy Cup was donated to BC Hockey by Colonel Coy of the fiftieth Gordon Highlanders Regiment of Victoria, BC.  It is emblematic of the Senior AA Amateur Hockey Championship of British Columbia.  The first Coy Cup was awarded to the in the 1922-1923 season.
