2016-2017 BC Major Midget League Schedule
Friday, September 2, 2016

BC Hockey announced Friday, September 2, 2016 the schedule for the 2016-2017 BC Major Midget League (MML) regular season.  The season will kick off on Saturday, September 24, 2016 with five (5) games scheduled around the province.

The schedule is highlighted by two (2) Showcase Weekends on September 30 – October 2, 2016 and January 20 – 22, 2017, both held at the world-class Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Cariboo Cougars will also be hosting the Vancouver North East Chiefs in Whitehorse, YK for a two (2) game series October 15 – 16, 2016. The game will be the centerpiece of a weekend celebrating hockey in the Yukon.

The 220 game regular season wraps up the weekend of March 4 – 5, 2017, with the playoffs beginning March 11, 2017. The MML Championship series will take place March 25 – 26, 2017. Additionally, BC is hosting the Pacific Regionals March 31 – April 1, 2017, which will see the winner earn a TELUS Cup berth.

The Cariboo Cougars are hosting the TELUS Cup in Prince George from April 22 – 29, 2017, where they will face off against the Pacific, Western, Central, Quebec, and Atlantic Midget Regional Champions for the Midget National Championship.

“We are really excited about the upcoming MML season,” commented MML Coordinator Joe Downing. “From the Showcase Weekends, to the Whitehorse series, to Prince George hosting the TELUS Cup, it’s sure to be an exciting year here in BC. I’m looking forward to watching all of the players grow and develop throughout the course of the season.”

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
