BC Hockey is pleased to announce the Male Under 16 Zone Teams that will compete at the 2008 BC Winter Games, February 21-24, 2008 in Kimberly / Cranbrook, BC.
The BC Winter Games offer BC's top players in the BC Hockey High Performance Under 16 Program the unique experience of competing with the best players in their age group from across the province. The objective of the Program is to enhance the overall performance of BC athletes, coaches and officials in high level sporting events.
The BC Hockey Under 16 Program is designed as an introduction to BC Hockey’s High Performance Program, exposing players, coaches and officials to short term competition. The Under 16 Program also acts as a precursor to the BC Hockey High Performance Under 17 Program, which is used to identify and train players and team personnel for provincial, regional and national teams.
The Cities of Kimberly and Cranbrook are looking forward to playing host to these exceptional athletes and coaches. This year over 700 players’ province wide tried out in their respective zones and only 160 made the cut. Congratulations to those players on being selected to their Zone Team!
The BC Hockey High Performance Under 16 Program is under the direction of Shannon Bell, BC Hockey Officer at Large, and Rob Rogers, BC Hockey High Performance Coordinator. In addition there are many great volunteers that make this program possible and BC Hockey would like to thank these valuable resources and commend everyone on a great job done on zone tryout camps.
