Regular Season Wraps Up in the Major Midget League

The 2007-2008 BC Hockey Major Midget League regular season has drawn to an exciting close leaving the top six teams fighting to become the MML Champions.  Congratulations to the Vancouver North West Giants for finishing first in the league!  Below are the final standings and points of the top six teams who will be moving on to the playoffs:

The MML championship playoffs will see the first place Giants and second place Canadians have a bye into the semi final round, both receiving a well deserved rest this coming weekend.  However, before they can move on, the four remaining teams still have the quarterfinals to conquer.  The third place Rockets will go up against the sixth place Bruins and the fourth place Cougars will take on the fifth place Chiefs.  The quarterfinal schedules are as follows:

Okanagan Rockets (#3) vs. Fraser Valley Bruins (#6)

  • Friday, March 7        8:00 pm at Capital News Centre #1, Kelowna, BC
  • Saturday, March 8    8:30 pm at Capital News Centre #1, Kelowna, BC
  • Sunday, March 9**   10:00 am at Capital News Centre #2, Kelowna, BC
    **Game only played if necessary to determine winner

Cariboo Cougars (#4) vs. Vancouver NE Chiefs (#5)

  • Games will be in Prince George
  • Game times and locations to be announced

The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
