Penticton Vees Wrap Up Season at Doyle Cup
Tuesday, April 29, 2008

The Penticton Vees fell short at the 2008 Doyle Cup against the Alberta Junior A representatives Camrose Kodiaks.  The Vees lost their first two games to the Kodiaks in Camrose but found themselves with a win in the third game as the series shifted to Penticton.  The final two games were decided by only one goal, both games being awarded to Camrose, to the chagrin of the Vees.  The Penticton Vees finished up their season at home with a one and four record in the Doyle Cup.

The Penticton Vees were crowned the BC Hockey Junior A Champions after sweeping the Nanaimo Clippers in four games in the best-of-seven series to capture the Fred Page Cup.  The Vees are also recipients of the Mowat Cup which was donated to BC Hockey by Mr. John Mowat of Victoria, BC for competition of Junior Hockey Clubs, emblematic of the Junior A Hockey Championship of British Columbia.

Since the Doyle Cup was introduced the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) has won 15 of 23 championships.  Vernon (BCHL) has won the most titles with five, followed by Camrose, of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), with four.  Penticton and Surrey are the only other BC teams to win multiple Doyle Cups.

The 2008 Doyle Cup schedule and scores are as follows:
