BC Hockey is now accepting applications and entries for contests and award opportunities available through the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey. BC Hockey works in partnership with the Vancouver Canucks through the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey to bring opportunities to BC Hockey members. The Centre aims to provide programs and initiatives supporting growth and development of coaches, players and fans.
Contest information and application forms can be found on the BC Hockey website under the Register Now tab. The programs available through the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey provide a chance for the BC Hockey membership to get involved with the Vancouver Canucks. Some up-coming contests and opportunities are listed below:
Stand on Guard Contest - available to Minor Hockey players and officials.
BC Hockey Anthem Idol – available to anthem singers performing in the WHL, BCHL, and Junior B Leagues.
Team First Challenge – available to all Minor Hockey Teams.
Penalty Free Challenge – available to all Minor Hockey Teams playing games during Minor Hockey week in BC (January 12-19).
Coaching Day in BC – available to all BC Hockey member coaches.
Canucks Centre Staff Application Form – available to all BC Hockey member coaches.
The Stand on Guard Contest will be offered to BC Hockey players and officials to stand with the Vancouver Canucks starting line-up prior to the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday, January 18 at 5:00 pm. The BC Hockey Anthem Idol is an exciting opportunity for Anthem singers from the WHL, BCHL and Junior B Leagues to sing the National Anthem before the Vancouver Canucks game on Sunday, January 18. The Team First Challenge is a partnership between BC Hockey, the Vancouver Canucks and Hockey Canada and is an initiative to expose Minor Hockey teams to the Fair Play Codes for players, team staff, parents and officials. Teams can read and sign the Team First Challenge agreement by
. The first 50 teams that sign-up will receive custom Team First mini-sticks and BC Hockey helmet stickers. In addition, all teams will be placed in a draw to win an exclusive opportunity to play a game at GM Place in Vancouver.
The Penalty Free Challenge is a BC Hockey program that is run during BC Minor Hockey Week. The program encourages positive social values, including fair play, integrity, respect and fairness. To enter, teams must play a penalty free game during BC Minor Hockey Week which takes place January 12-19, 2009. Coaching Day in BC is an exciting opportunity for Minor Hockey Coaches in BC on February 7, 2009. BC Hockey and the Vancouver Canucks would like to invite coaches to attend this special one day event which includes on-ice instruction from leaders within BC Hockey and Hockey Canada and the day is hi-lighted by an on-ice demonstration by the Vancouver Canucks and visiting team coaching staff. Application forms and more information on this exciting event will be released in the coming weeks.
The Canucks Centre for BC Hockey has a number of programs available for coaches to apply for. These programs range from on-ice conductors for the Canucks Adult Skills Camp to off-ice instructors for the Vancouver Canucks First Strides Initiation program. The partnership is a cooperative effort in which each organization assists the other in the promotion, organization, development, administration, recognition and execution of programs at all levels of amateur hockey.
In addition to the opportunities listed above BC Hockey has already selected members to participate in the Canucks Mini-Minor, McDonalds In-the-Lineup, Canucks Training Camp, Canucks First Strides event, and the Unveiling of the Luc Bourdon wall of dreams. As the season progresses BC Hockey will announce more membership opportunities.
The Canucks Centre for BC Hockey is one of the great programs that are offered to the BC Hockey membership.
