Wednesday, January 21, 2009

BC Hockey announced today the zone selections for the Male U16 BC Cup in Salmon Arm from April 15-19, 2009.  The selections were made following the zone camps held across BC, January 2-4, 2009.  20 players were selected from each Zone, with the rosters for the Male U16 BC Cup being announced in the coming weeks.  This year’s competition will be a jamboree style tournament meaning the players will be arranged into eight (8) teams consisting of players from each zone.

2009 U16 BC Cup Invites

This competition offers BC's top players in the Male U16 Program the unique experience of competing with the best players in their age group from across the province. The objective of the BC Hockey High Performance Program is to enhance the overall performance of BC athletes, coaches, and officials in high level sporting events.

The BC Hockey High Performance U16 Program is designed as an introduction to BC Hockey’s High Performance Program, exposing players, coaches and officials to short term competition.  The Under 16 Program also acts as a precursor to the BC Hockey High Performance U17 Program, which is used to identify and train players and team personnel for Provincial, Regional and National Teams.

The City of Salmon Arm is looking forward to playing host to these exceptional athletes and coaches.  For more information on the Male U16 BC Cup and the BC Hockey High Performance Program please go to the High Performance section on the BC Hockey website.

The BC Hockey High Performance U16 Program is under the direction of Robin Douville, BC Hockey Officer at Large, and Rob Rogers, BC Hockey High Performance Coordinator.  BC Hockey would like to thank all of the volunteers who were involved with the District Camps held in early January.
