BC Hockey Female U18 Zone Camps

BC Hockey announced today that applications for players wishing to attend the BC Hockey Female U18 Zone Camps are now available on the BC Hockey website, .  Applications will be accepted until March 11, 2009.  There will be one (1) camp for each Zone.  The camps (athletes must try out in their Zone of residence) will be used to instruct and evaluate players for their possible selection to compete at the 2009 Female U18 BC Cup, April 23-26, 2009 in Salmon Arm, BC.


  • Players born in the year 1992 and 1993 are eligible for the 2008-2009 Female U18 Program.
  • Players must be registered with BC Hockey.
  • Players must be on-ice evaluated at each step of the program in order to be eligible to advance.
  • Players must be Female.

Program Steps:

  • Zone Camps – One camp for each of the six (6) Zones (selection camp fee –  $165.00 plus tax)
    • Zone Camp Locations
      • Kootenay –  Grand Forks Arena in Grand Forks – March 27-29
      • Okanagan – Summerland Arena in Summerland – March 28-29
      • Fraser Valley – Father David Bauer Arena at UBC in Vancouver – March 28-29
      • Greater Vancouver – Father David Bauer Arena at UBC in Vancouver – March 28-29
      • Island –  Alberni Valley Multiplex in Port Alberni – April 4-5
      • North - TBA
  • Team Selection – Athletes (18 players and 2 goaltenders) will be evaluated and ranked at the Zone Camps. BC Hockey will take the rankings and create six (6) Jamboree style teams. The Female U18 program adopted the Jamboree format at the 2007 Female U18 BC Cup in an attempt to make all six teams as even as possible, therefore creating a competitive balance allowing for best possible environment for Provincial Camp players evaluations.

  • 2009 Female U18 BC Cup – Held in Salmon Arm, BC April 23-26, 2009 (each athlete selected to the Zone Team will be levied a fee that is payable to BC Hockey).  This fee covers costs associated with the Female U18 BC Cup. The top (46) players from the BC Cup will be invited to attend the U18 Provincial Camp. 
  • Female U18 Provincial Camp – The Male and Female Provincial Camp will be hosted together in Nanaimo from July 27-31, 2009. The weeklong camp includes ice sessions with the top female coaches in the province, classroom lectures in the areas of fitness, health, nutrition and mental training, four inter-squad games and much more.  At the conclusion of Provincial Camp 20 athletes will be selected to play for Team BC competing at the 2009 Women’s National Under 18 Championship. 
  • U18 Female National Championship – Surrey, BC will host the 2009 Women’s National Under 18 Championship. The eight (8) team tournament (Ontario Red, Ontario Blue, Quebec, Atlantic, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC) will be held November 7-11 at the South Surrey Arena. 
  • National Women’s Under-18 Team – This is the first step of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence. Typically the U18 program consists of a selection camp, a three (3) game series vs. the United States and the World Championship (beginning in 2008).  For more information Visit the National Women's Under 18 Team site  

Cancellation Policy:

  • Upon acceptance into the Female U18 Zone Camp, your payment will be processed.
  • Application Deadline March 11, 2009.
  • Any cancellation prior to March 11, 2009 will be subject to a 50% refund. 
  • No refunds will be processed following March 11, 2009.
