Summer Officiating School Applications Now Available
Tuesday, March 17, 2009

BC Hockey announced today that Summer Officiating School applications are now available on the BC Hockey website.  If you are looking for an opportunity to expand your knowledge of hockey officiating then the BC Hockey Summer Officiating School will meet all your expectations. An ambitious program of instruction awaits you.

The program offers a curriculum that can be tailored to meet the needs of officials; varying from those preparing to officiate upper levels of competitive hockey to the recreational official, possibly new to the game wishing to learn basic instruction in a less formal atmosphere.

The school will be devoted entirely to the Hockey Canada Officiating Program material. A certification exam will be written on the final day for 2009-2010 certification.  Ice sessions and game supervision will be prepared using both BC Hockey and Hockey Canada procedures.

Both on-ice and off-ice activities will be designed to meet the needs of the registrants. Students may be grouped by age, ability or level of interest during the school to maximize success.

BC Hockey will be offering two (2) Summer Officiating Schools in 2009:

  • Osoyoos: August 3-7, 2009
  • Lake Cowichan: August 10-14, 2009

The Summer Officiating Schools are operated under the direction of key individuals from the BC Hockey Referee Development Program.  Instructors will include BC Hockey instructional staff, upper level officials and special guests.
