Richmond Sockeyes Win 2009 Keystone Cup
Sunday, April 19, 2009

The 2009 Keystone Cup was held in Thunder Bay, Ontario from April 16 – 19, 2009.  BC Hockey was represented by the Junior B Champions, the Richmond Sockeyes.  The Sockeyes captured the Cyclone Taylor Cup on April 5 when they defeated the Nelson Leafs 6-2 in the Championship game.

The Sockeyes finished round robin play with a record of 4-1 which was enough to qualify them for the Championship game.  They took on the host team the K&A Wolverines for the Western Junior B Championship.

In a competitive back and forth game it was the Sockeyes who would come out on top in the end, 6-5.  BC Hockey would like to congratulate the Richmond Sockeyes on capturing the 2009 Keystone Cup.
