BC Hockey announced today that the Kamloops Storm will host the 2010 Keystone Cup, April 15-18, 2010. The Keystone Cup was last hosted in BC in 2006 by the Campbell River Storm of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL).
The Keystone Cup is a six (6) team tournament to crown the Western Canadian Junior B Champion. League champions from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Ontario and the host team will compete for the 2010 Championship.
“The Kamloops Storm are honoured to be the host for the 2010 Keystone Cup. All Junior B teams in Western Canada strive to attend this prestigious event. As a participant in the Cup in Medicine Hat in 2005 I know the honour and pride that my team felt by attending and winning the event and look forward to repeating this experience again,” said Barry Dewar Host Committee Chair. To me the Keystone is the ultimate challenge for Junior B Hockey. The Tournament Capital of Canada is looking forward to welcoming all the competitors, scouts and fans who will attend this event next April and we plan this to be the best Keystone Cup in its History"
The 2009 Keystone Cup champions were BC’s Richmond Sockeyes. More information on this event will be released as it becomes available.
