Cowichan Selected as 2010 Female Under 18 BC Cup Host
Wednesday, September 02, 2009

BC Hockey announced today that Cowichan, BC has been selected as the host for the 2010 Female U18 BC Cup. The Female U18 BC Cup will be held at the Island Savings Centre and is scheduled for April, 2010.

The date of the event will be posted to the Female Under 18 section of the BC Hockey website once confirmed. A strong host committee is in place and will develop detailed plans to host a memorable event for all in attendance.

“Our valley has hosted many notable events, including the 2008 North America Indigenous Games and the 2005 BC Senior Games,” said John Elzinga Island Savings Centre Manager. “We are proud to again be hosting the prestigious BC Hockey Female Under 18 BC Cup.”

The BC Hockey U18 level is the final step in the BC Hockey Female High Performance program and the athletes in attendance at the camp represent the best BC has to offer in that age group.  Many have progressed through the U16 program where they were introduced to training techniques and expectations that they have carried forward to the U18 level.  The U18 championship is also the first step in the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence.  Athletes will be evaluated in location for possible inclusion in further Hockey Canada programming.

The 2009 Women’s National Under 18 Championship will be held in Surrey, BC at the South Surrey Arena from November 4-8, 2009.
