PAGE 12 MINOR RECREATION CANUCKS CENTRE ROAD TO WORLDS The Canucks Centre for BC Hockey enjoyed another great year of programming. The continued focus of the centre provides opportunities for BC Hockey players to attend evens and specialized programming with the Vancouver Canucks. Minor Hockey Weekend was a great success. Teams from the Lower Mainland Vancouver Island and the Okanagan played an exhibition game at Rogers Arena. In late January BC Hockey and the Vancouver Canucks were honoured as part of the Minor Hockey Week in BC Celebrations. This past season over 15 young hockey players had the opportunity to live out their dream and stand on the blueline with the Canucks starting lineup as part of the Every Kids Dream Contest. The Canucks Female Jamboree was filled to capacity again this year. Young female hockey players took over Burnaby 8 Rinks for a day filled with on and off-ice activities games and lots of laughs. The Road to Worlds was an overwhelming success for the promotion and development of female hockey in BC and the Yukon. As part of the program and the lead up to the Womens World Championship in Kamloops development activities included clinics a hot stove panel for coaches and officials ESSO Fun Days skills sessions and Female Jamborees. The following events were held WORLD GIRLS HOCKEY WEEKEND More than 1400 females participated in World Girls Hockey Weekend on October 9 11 2015. The weekend culminated with the completion of a cross-Canada game dubbed the Long Game.
