BCEHL MONTHLY AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED - DECEMBER 2023

Saanichton, B.C. – The BCEHL is excited to announce the monthly award winners for December 2023. Each league will have a forward, defender and goaltender honoured each month. The winners are chosen based on statistical and team success during the month. Strong work in the community will now be honoured twice a season, previously it was part of the criteria for player of the month.

#9 Leah Hill

Fraser Valley Rush
MHA: Semiahmoo

Leah Hill of the Fraser Valley Rush is the December Forward of the Month for the Female U18 AAA league. In four games during the month of December, the 15-year-old led the league in goals (3) and points (6). The White Rock, B.C. native ranks sixth in regular season scoring, with 17 points (9g-8a) in 22 games played and has helped her Fraser Valley squad to a 15-6-0-1 record so far this season.

Thompson-Okanagan Lakers
MHA: Greater Trail

Melani Brooks of the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers earns December Defender of the Month honours in the Female U18 AAA league. Brooks led all Female U18 defenders in the month of December with three points (1g-2a) in two games. On the season, the Greater Trail MHA product is tied for sixth in scoring among all Female U18 blueliners, with eight points (3g-5a) through 22 games played.

#35 Olivia Tran

Greater Vancouver Comets
MHA: Abbotsford Female

Greater Vancouver Comets goaltender, Olivia Tran, is December's Goaltender of the Month in the Female U18 AAA league. After picking up victories in both starts in December, Tran led all Female U18 netminders with her two victories. In 13 starts this season, Tran ranks fourth among all Female U18 goaltenders with six wins, and third in minutes played (785).

Forward of the Month

#23 Mason Loewen

Cariboo Cougars
MHA: Fort St. John

Mason Loewen has been named Forward of the Month for the U18 AAA league during the month of December. The Cariboo Cougars forward was all over the scoresheet in December, collecting 14 points (4g-10a), including six power play points (2g-4a) in just six games played. After his big month, the Fort St. John MHA product sits atop the U18 scoring leaderboard, with 38 points (15g-23a) in 22 games played.

#24 Kenyon McIsaac

Cariboo Cougars
MHA: Prince George

Kenyon McIsaac's successful month of December earned the Cariboo Cougars' defender U18 AAA Defender of the Month honours. The 5-11, 163 pound blueliner led all U18 defenders with eight points (5g-3a) in six games played. The Prince George, B.C. product is tied for first in goals (7) among all U18 blueliners, ranks first in power play goals (3) and sits fourth in points with 18 (7g-11a) in only 12 games played.

MHA: Cloverdale

Taylor West of the Valley West Giants is December's recipient of the U18 AAA Goaltender of the Month. The Cloverdale MHA alum had a perfect record of 3-0-0-0 in December, to go along with a goals against average of 1.80. For the season, the 16-year-old boasts a record of 6-1-1-1, with one shutout and a goals against average of 3.17 for a Giants team that currently sits in fourth-place with a record of 13-7-1-1.

#80 Keegan Sanders

MHA: Kamloops

December's U17 AAA Player of the Month honours goes to Keegan Sanders of the Thompson Blazers. After racking up a league-leading 13 points (9g-4a), including two power play points (1g-1a) over six games in December, the Kamloops MHA product leads all U17 skaters on the season in points (31) and in points-per-game (1.48), and sits second in power play points (9).

Aaron Zulinick is recognized as the U17 AAA Defender of the Month for the second time this season as he earns the honour for December. The Blazers defender finished December with eight points (3g-5a) over six games. On the season, Zulinick leads all U17 blueliners with 23 points (6g-17a), and is first among all U17 skaters in power play assists (8).

#29 Shay McVicker

Valley West Giants
MHA: Surrey

For the second consecutive month, the U17 AAA Goaltender of the Month goes to a member of the Valley West Giants, this time to Shay McVicker. The Valley West netminder made four appearances in December, finishing with a record of 3-1-0-0 and one shutout. The Surrey MHA alum is tied for third in wins (7) and goals against average (2.68) among all U17 goaltenders.

#17 Riley Charlton

MHA: Chilliwack

Riley Charlton is December's U15 AAA Player of the Month for the second time this season after also receiving the honours in November. This month, Charlton picked up a league-leading 11 points (6g-5a) in only four games. The Chilliwack, B.C. native sits second in league scoring with 31 points (10g-21a) and leads the league in power play assists (8). He has helped his Thunderbirds go undefeated in December, finishing with a record of 4-0-0-0 and sit atop the U15 standings with a record of 15-2-0-0.

#12 Will Fuhrmann

MHA: Kelowna

Okanagan Rockets defender Will Fuhrmann is this month's U15 AAA Defender of the Month. The 5-9, 127 pound blueliner picked up six points (1g-5a) over four games in December, which ranked first among all U15 defenders. In 16 games on the season, Fuhrmann is scoring at a point-per-game pace as he's put up 16 points (6g-10a), which is third among all U15 defenders.

MHA: Mission

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds goaltender Bentley Edgar continues his fantastic season between the pipes as he earns U15 AAA Goaltender of the Month for the second consecutive month. The Mission MHA product finished with a record of 2-0-0-0 in December, boosting his record to 8-0-0-0. The 5-9, 140 pound netminder leads the U15 in wins (8), goals against average (0.69) and is tied with fellow teammate Davin Chyld with four shutouts.
