BCEHL MONTHLY AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED - JANUARY 2024

Saanichton, B.C. – The BCEHL is excited to announce the monthly award winners for January 2024. Each league will have a forward, defender and goaltender honoured each month. The winners are chosen based on statistical and team success during the month. Strong work in the community will now be honoured twice a season, previously it was part of the criteria for player of the month. 

Female U18 AAA

Forward of the Month

#19 Hannah Dods

Fraser Valley Rush
MHA: Chilliwack

Fraser Valley Rush forward Hannah Dods has earned Female U18 AAA Forward of the Month honours for January. Over six games, Dods led all skaters in assists (7), points (10), powerplay points (6), and also helped her Rush squad to a record of 4-1-1-0. On the season, the Chilliwack MHA product is tied for third among all Female U18 skaters with 29 points (12g-17a), and ranks first in power play points (10), and shorthanded goals (2).

Defender of the Month

#5 Cassandra Kehler

Fraser Valley Rush
MHA: Langley

Cassandra Kehler of the Fraser Valley Rush is selected as January's Defender of the Month for the Female U18 AAA league. Kehler scored at a point-per-game pace to start 2024, and totaled six points (3g-3a), including two goals on the power play. The Langley native came up big for her Rush squad as two of her three goals on the month were game winners.

#30 Denali Forsyth

Thompson-Okanagan Lakers
MHA: Salmon Arm

Denali Forsyth of the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers is January's Female U18 AAA Goaltender of the Month. The 16-year-old started four games between the pipes in January where she picked up three wins, which was more than any other goaltender in the Female U18 league. The Salmon Arm MHA alum also had two shutout victories along the way, which resulted in Fortsyth's sparkling goals against average of 1.25.

Forward of the Month

#21 Marco Oliviero

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds
MHA: Langley

After a blazing start to the new year, Fraser Valley Thunderbirds forward Marco Oliviero is chosen as U18 AAA Forward of the Month for January. In eight games played, Oliviero registered 17 points (9g-8a), which led all U18 skaters, and helped his squad achieve a record of 6-1-1-0 during the month. The Langley MHA product has put up 46 points (26g-20a) in 28 games so far this season, which is tied for third in U18 scoring.

#24 Tyson Moss

Vancouver NE Chiefs
MHA: Port Moody

Tyson Moss of the Vancouver NE Chiefs is the U18 AAA Defender of the Month for the second time this season after a successful January. Moss put up 12 points (3g-9a) during the month, which led all U17 blueliners. The 16-year-old's nine helpers, with four coming on the man advantage, tied him for second in the league among all U18 skaters.

#30 Ryder Green

Cariboo Cougars
MHA: Prince George

For the second time in the 2023-24 season, Cariboo Cougars' goaltender Ryder Green is the U18 AAA Goaltender of the Month. Through five starts in January, the Prince George MHA product posted a record of 4-0-1-0, to go along with a goals against average of 2.56. On the season, the 16-year-old leads all U18 goaltenders with 14 wins, and has his Cougars' squad just two points back of first place in the league standings.

Forward of the Month

#80 Keegan Sanders

Thompson Blazers
MHA: Kamloops

After a month that saw Keegan Sanders put up 20 points (12g-8a) in just eight games, the Thompson Blazers' forward is the U17 Forward of the Month for the second time this season. The Kamloops native's big month solidified his place atop the U17 scoring race, as he ranks first in goals (32), points (52) and power play goals (7) in 29 games played.

#72 Aaron Zulinick

MHA: Kamloops

For the third time this season, Aaron Zulinick is awarded the U17 AAA Defender of the Month after a productive month on the ice. The Thompson blueliner finished the month with 14 points (1g-13a), which is the highest monthly total for a U17 defender this season. The 15-year-old put up a league-high nine power play points, moving his season-long total to 18, where he finds himself at the top of the leaderboard among all U17 skaters.

Greater Vancouver Canadians
MHA: Vancouver Thunderbirds

Greater Vancouver Canadians netminder Alan Peregrym is January's U17 AAA Goaltender of the Month after he posted a perfect record to start 2024. The Vancouver native went undefeated in January, with a record of 3-0-0-0, to go with a stellar goals against average of 1.33. The 15-year-old leads all U17 netminders with 11 wins on the year, and has played a key role in the success of his Canadians squad who sit first in the standings with a record of 19-5-2-2.

Forward of the Month

#22 Daniel Ewert

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds
MHA: Mission

Fraser Valley's Daniel Ewert is recognized as the January Forward of the Month for the U15 AAA league. The 14-year-old had an outstanding month that saw him put up 13 points (8g-5a) in seven games where the Thunderbirds went 6-1-0-0. Through 22 games this season, the Mission MHA alum has scored 19 goals and added 16 assists, placing him in a tie for fourth among all U15 skaters with 35 points.

#14 Markus Halliwell

Vancouver NE Chiefs
MHA: Ridge Meadows

Markus Halliwell's on-ice success sees him selected as January's U15 AAA Defender of the Month. The Vancouver NE Chiefs defender led all U15 defenders with seven points (2g-5a) in only five games played. The Ridge Meadows product also collected three power play points, which placed him in a tie for first among all U15 skaters.

#35 Bentley Edgar

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds
MHA: Mission

Bentley Edgar continues his spectacular season between the pipes for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds as he picks up U15 AAA Goaltender of the Month honours for the third consecutive month. Edgar went undefeated across three starts in January, while allowing only five goals in the process. The 13-year-old has found the win column in all 11 starts this season, while posting a sparkling 0.91 goals against average, which leads all U15 goaltenders.
