BCEHL PLAYERS OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER 2022

For Immediate Release

January 5, 2023

Saanichton, B.C. – Each month during the season, the British Columbia Elite Hockey League (BCEHL) honours one player from each of the four leagues as the BCEHL Player of the Month for their respective league. Every team has the opportunity to nominate an individual from their team to be considered for the monthly award. This award is not based strictly on statistics. Team staff factors in the player’s on-and-off ice contributions towards the team as well as their involvement within the community and minor hockey mentorship.

Here are your Players of the Month for November!

Female U18 AAA

#8 Solana Cooper

Fraser Valley Rush
MHA: North Shore Avalanche
Forward
0G-2A

The impact that Solana Cooper has on-and-off the ice, along with her involvement in the community, makes the Fraser Valley Rush captain a worthy recipient of the Female U18 AAA Player of the Month for December. Cooper's community involvement included, along with teammates, providing gifts and food to a less fortunate family in the community. Cooper also assists in coaching with her Minor Hockey Association, the North Shore Avalanche. According to Fraser Valley Rush General Manager Al Wozney, Cooper serves as a wonderful role model for younger players on her team, and players in the community.

On the ice, Cooper registered two points (0g-2a) in the Rush's two games during the month of December. Both of Cooper's points came in a 6-4 victory over the Vancouver Island Seals on December 10.

U18 AAA

#14 Massimo Fazio

Greater Vancouver Canadians
MHA: Vancouver Thunderbirds

7G-8A

Greater Vancouver Canadians' forward Massimo Fazio is the recipient of the U18 Player of the Month for December, having a strong month on the ice, while also having important contributions off the ice as well. A dedicated student, Fazio possesses a 4.0 GPA and leads the committee for the Youth Science Fair at his high school. According to Canadians' General Manager Al Wozney, Fazio is an instrumental part of their leadership team and is respected by his teammates.

Fazio enjoyed a successful month on the ice as well. In seven BCEHL games, the forward registered 15 points (7g-8a), helping his team to a 6-1-0-0 record during the month of December. On the season, Fazio's 30 points (12g-18a) rank 11th in U18 scoring.

U17 AAA

#72 Avery Lowe

Valley West Giants
MHA: North Delta
Forward
5G-5A

Solid play on the ice and community involvement off the ice has earned Avery Lowe U17 Player of the Month honours for December. Away from the rink, Lowe volunteers at swim meets at Delta's Sungod Recreation Centre and will be assisting with skating lessons as well. After returning from injury early in the season, Lowe has been a valuable and impactful player for the Giants, according to Valley West Giants Head Coach Dryden Valade.

Earning points in five of six games during the month of December, the Giants' forward registered 10 points (5g-5a). Lowe's 27 points (11g-16a) rank third in team scoring, and sits 10th among all U17 skaters.
