BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - DECEMBER 15-17

Saanichton, B.C. - The final weekend of BCEHL hockey in 2023 has nearly arrived! The top two squads in the Female U18 league take the ice, looking to claim first place in the standings. Let's see what's happening around the BCEHL!

 

Female U18 AAA

 

Female U18 AAA Featured Series: It's a battle between the two top squads in the Female U18 league when the second-place Fraser Valley Rush (14-5-0-1) visit the league-leading Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (14-4-1-1) in Vernon. The Lakers enter the series with a record of 6-0-1-0 in their last seven, led by Alexandra Recsky, who has put up 10 points (1g-9a) during that span. The Rush are 5-2-0-0 over their last seven games, with forward Leah Hill leading the team in scoring, recording eight points (6g-2a) in those games.

U18 AAA

 

U18 AAA Featured Series: The third-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (13-4-0-0) head to the Island to take on the ninth-place Vancouver Island Royals (1-19-0-0). Fraser Valley netminder Jake Torget has posted a record of 4-1-0-0, including a shutout, over his last five starts. Royals' forward Kobe Sawyer will look to build on last weekend's performance, where he put up five points (2g-3a) in two games against the league-leading Cariboo Cougars.

U17 AAA

 

U17 AAA Featured Series: Valuable points in the standings will be on the line when the fifth-place Vancouver NE Chiefs (9-8-3-2) square off against the seventh-place Vancouver NW Hawks (9-8-1-0). The Hawks took the win in both games last weekend against the Thompson Blazers, led on the scoresheet by Jamie Frizzell (1g-2a), Alexander Kazakoff (1g-2a) and Hudson Guiel (0g-3a), who all recorded three points. Chiefs' forward Kaeden Kalkat has lit up the scoresheet in two games against the Hawks this season with five points (2g-3a).

U15 AAA Featured Series: The third-place Okanagan Rockets (9-2-0-3) and eighth-place Thompson Blazers (3-7-0-2) take the ice this weekend in Chase. Okanagan are winners of six of their last seven, backed by Kaishu Shin, who has put up eight points (3g-5a) in his last five games, and netminder Reed Russell, who has won four of his last five starts. Blazers forward Mattias Holte will look to continue his point-per-game pace this season, with 13 points (8g-5a) in 12 games.
