BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - FEBRUARY 23-25

Saanichton, B.C. - We've arrived at the final weekend of the regular season! There is still much to be settled as battles for playoff positioning take place around the BCEHL. Let's take a look at what to keep an eye on!

 

Female U18 AAA

U18 AAA Featured Series: The final weekend of the regular season in the Female U18 league sees the second-place Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (20-8-1-1) and fourth-place Northern Capitals (10-18-1-1) take the ice in Prince George. The Capitals will look to continue their strong finish to the season, as they've posted a record of 3-1-1-0 over their last five games. Lakers' defenders Kilah Hodder (1g-6a) and Hannah Robertson (1g-6a) lead their team with seven points each in six games against the Capitals this season.

U18 AAA

U18 AAA Featured Series: Separated by only three points in the standings, the second-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (28-5-1-0) and third-place Cariboo Cougars (26-6-2-0) battle for seeding as the regular season comes to a close this weekend. Both squads carry an impressive win streak into the series, as Fraser Valley are winners of eight straight, and Cariboo has earned wins in six consecutive games. Cariboo has come out on top in both meetings against Fraser Valley this season, led by forward Mason Loewen, who has put up eight points (4g-4a) so far in the season series.

U17 AAA

U17 AAA Featured Matchup: A crucial matchup goes down on Friday between the second-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (19-10-3-3) and third-place Vancouver NW Hawks (20-12-2-1). With only one point separating the two teams, the winner of the game will finish the regular season in second-place. The Hawks and Thunderbirds recently met on February 19, where multi-point performances from Max Saar (2g-0a), Jamie Frizzell (1g-1a), Zach McKenzie (1g-1a) and Alexander Kazakoff (0g-2a) led the Hawks to a 4-3 victory.

U15 AAA

U15 AAA Featured Series: In the lone matchup of the U15 league, the fourth-place Vancouver NE Chiefs (15-8-3-2) travel to Kamloops to take on the sixth-place Thompson Blazers (11-14-2-1) to close out the regular season. The Blazers offense has been clicking as they've scored 18 times during a current three-game winning streak. Chiefs' forward Wilton Vo helped his team to a pair of victories last weekend as he put up five points (3g-2a), including a four-point effort (2g-2a) on Saturday.
