BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - JANUARY 19-21

Saanichton, B.C. - A busy week in the BCEHL is upon us! The Northern Capitals, Vancouver Island Seals, Cariboo Cougars and Okanagan Rockets hit the outdoor ice this weekend as the annual Winter Classic kicks off Friday! Let's see what's in store in the BCEHL!

 

Female U18 AAA

Female U18 AAA Featured Series: Up north, the fourth-place Northern Capitals (8-17-0-1) and fifth-place Vancouver Island Seals (5-14-0-5) square off in the Winter Classic, outdoors on Friday at Ernie Sam Memorial Arena, and at Vanderhoof Arena on Saturday. In a tightly contested season series, both teams have claimed two victories. Seals' forward Sophia Dhami has put up seven points (3g-4a) in the four games against the Capitals, while Abby Bryant (2g-2a) and Sarah Prestmo (1g-3a) lead the way for the Capitals with four points in the season series.

U18 AAA

U18 AAA Featured Series: At the Winter Classic, the third-place Cariboo Cougars (19-5-2-0) and fourth-place Okanagan Rockets (15-7-1-1) take to the outdoor rink at the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena on Saturday, and inside the Fort Forum Arena on Sunday. Mason Loewen will look to keep up his production against the Rockets this season, after recording a hat trick in a 5-2 Cougars' victory on October 21. The Rockets have put up a record of 4-0-1-0 in their last five games, helped out by Maguire Nicholson's 10 points (5g-5a) during that span.

U17 AAA Featured Series: The fourth-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (12-7-3-3) travel to Prince George to take on the fifth-place Cariboo Cougars (10-9-4-3) for a weekend series. It will be a matchup between two of the league's highest scoring blueliners as Fraser Valley's Brett Woodard (8g-9a) and Cariboo's Carson Brookes (3g-13a) both rank inside the top five in scoring among defenders.

U15 AAA

U15 AAA Featured Series: Valuable points in the standings are up for grabs when the third-place Okanagan Rockets (11-3-1-3) and the fourth-place Vancouver NE Chiefs (11-5-1-1) take the ice in Kelowna. The leading scorer in the U15 league, Christiano D'Addabbo, led the way in a 6-3 Chiefs' victory with a four point effort (2g-2a) in the lone matchup between the two teams this season. The Rockets enter the weekend with a record of 4-1-1-0 in their last six, where forward Von Lakovic has led the way with eight points (3g-5a) during that span.
