BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - JANUARY 31 - FEBRUARY 4

Saanichton, B.C. - Here we go! Another week of BCEHL action is upon us. It's showcase weekend for the U15 league as all nine squads will meet at the Richmond Ice Centre starting Friday. Let's see what's going on around the BCEHL!

 

Female U18 AAA

 Female U18 AAA Featured Series: In the lone Female U18 matchup of the week, the second-place Fraser Valley Rush (19-7-1-1) travel to the Island to take on the fifth-place Vancouver Island Seals (5-15-1-5) for a pair of games. This will mark the seventh and eighth meetings between the two squads this season, with the Rush claiming victories in five of the six games. Seals' forward Sophia Dhami recorded four points (2g-2a) against the Rush so far this season, while the Fraser Valley goaltending tandem of Kennedy Chalmers and Rebecca Noble have combined for three shutouts on the year against the Seals.

U18 AAA

U18 AAA Featured Series: The league-leading Vancouver NE Chiefs (22-4-2-2) and fourth-place Valley West Giants (17-9-1-1) will meet in a home-and-home series. With a record of 3-0-2-0 in their last five games, the Chiefs have been led on the scoresheet by Tyson Moss, who has put up eight points (1g-7a) during that span and leads all U18 defenders with 36 points (9g-27a) in 30 games this season. The Giants also enter the weekend on a high note, after they picked up wins in four straight, helped by forward Jordan Wales' eight points (3g-5a) during their winning streak.

U17 AAA

U17 AAA Featured Series: In the ultra-competitive U17 league, the eighth-place Cariboo Cougars (10-12-5-3) look to make a move up the standings when they visit the league-leading Greater Vancouver Canadians (19-5-2-2) in Richmond. Cariboo currently sits five points back the fourth-place Valley West Giants. Cougars' forward Miller Tedesco has found the back of the net nine times during a seven-game goal streak, and is tied for third among all U17 skaters with 24 goals. On the season, the Canadians lead all U17 teams with 4.71 goals per game, and are one of only two teams, along with the Thompson Blazers, to have three players with 30 points or more (Sorash Ramlal, Helius Guan, Luca Martyniuk).

U15 AAA Featured Matchup: It's showcase weekend in the U15 league and we have a battle of the top two squads on Saturday night when the league-leading Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (21-2-0-1) and second-place Valley West Giants (15-6-1-0) take the ice. The season series has seen the Thunderbirds take the win in two of three games, with Fraser Valley's Dane Nickel leading the way with eight points (2g-6a).
