BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - JANUARY 4-7

Saanichton, B.C. - The holiday break has ended, and BCEHL hockey is back! We kick off 2024 with the second Female U18 showcase of the season in Richmond, and plenty of action across the other three leagues. Let's take a look at what's in store!
Female U18 AAA
Female U18 AAA Featured Matchup: The opening day of the Female U18 showcase sees the league-leading Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (15-5-1-1) take on the fourth-place Vancouver Island Seals (5-11-0-4). The Lakers enter the new year on a high note, with wins in five of their previous six games. Lakers' captain Hannah Robertson led the way with six points (0g-6a) in those six games. Seals' forward Sophia Dhami has had success against the Lakers so far this season, picking up 12 points (5g-7a) across the six previous meetings.

U18 AAA
U18 AAA Featured Series: The fifth-place Okanagan Rockets (12-7-0-1) and sixth-place Vancouver NW Hawks (10-11-0-1) kick off 2024 with a weekend series in Vancouver. Led by four players scoring at over a point-per-game pace, the Rockets boast one of the league's most potent offenses, averaging nearly five goals per game (4.95). The Hawks' scoring depth has been a strength this season, as their lineup features seven players (Ben Walker, Kolton Eady, Max Kelly, Tristan Payne, Lucas Davidson, Ryan McAuley, Spencer Huth) who are scoring at a point-per-game pace or better.

U17 AAA
U17 AAA Featured Series: The league-leading Greater Vancouver Canadians (14-4-2-2) and fifth-place Vancouver NE Chiefs (10-9-3-2) will look to start 2024 on the right note as they hit the ice for a weekend series. The Canadians were victorious in their final three games before the holiday break, filling the net with a combined total of 22 goals. Chiefs' forward Austin Pavan will look to continue his success against Greater Vancouver, as he's found the back of the net four times in three games.

U15 AAA Featured Series: In Abbotsford, the league-leading Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (15-2-0-0) welcome the sixth-place Vancouver Island Royals (5-8-0-3). Fraser Valley has excelled on both sides of the puck this season, leading the U15 league in both goals per game (5.88) and goal against per game (0.82). Royals' forward Kane Nicholas has recorded points in three of his last four games, totaling five points (3g-2a).
