BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - NOVEMBER 13-14

For Immediate Release

November 12, 2021

Saanichton, B.C. – It’s a light weekend in the BCEHL as only 20 teams will take the ice, but we still have some great matchups ahead of us. The Fraser Valley Rush will return to action for the first time in three weeks as they take on the Vancouver Island Seals. With a full slate of games in the U17 AAA league, and only three points separating the top four teams, we will surely see some movement in the standings. Let’s see what else is ahead of us!

U18 Female AAA

The Fraser Valley Rush will aim to remain undefeated when they play host to the Vancouver Island Seals. Elsewhere, the Northern Capitals will face off with the Greater Vancouver Comets. Goaltender Clara Juca of the Rush has started the season strong, allowing just five goals in four starts. In fact, Fraser Valley’s goaltending tandem of Juca and Rebecca Noble has been very impressive especially when you add in Noble’s play as she has only allowed six goals in her four starts, and this includes a shutout.

A light docket of games in the U18 AAA league sees only two teams in action, as the South Island Royals will travel to take on the Greater Vancouver Canadians. The Royals are coming off an explosive two-game series with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds that saw the team score 13 goals. South Island’s Jackson Campbell (4g-1a), Nathan King (0g-5a), and Cyprus Smith-Davis (2g-4a) all eclipsed five points in what was a wild weekend for the Royals. The Canadians, on the other hand, are coming off two shutout wins, thanks to impressive performances by goaltenders Remy Quintoro and Markus Lam.

U17 AAA

The U17 AAA league is the only division that will see all the teams in action this weekend. The Greater Vancouver Canadians and Vancouver NE Chiefs remain deadlocked at the top of the standings after both teams won two games last weekend. Chiefs’ goaltenders Nathan Claydon and Jordan Reed both recorded a shutout against the South Island Royals, they will try and carry their good form into a matchup with the Thompson Blazers. The Valley West Giants and the Okanagan Rockets will also face off as only one point separates the two teams in the standings.
