BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - OCTOBER 23-24

Saanichton, B.C. – Another weekend of BCEHL action is here and the leagues are starting to heat up. The standings are sure to change in the U18 AAA and the U18 Female AAA divisions as the teams at the top of the league will battle it out. Only three teams remain undefeated across the entire BCEHL, let’s have a look at what we can expect this weekend!

The Fraser Valley Rush and the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers will go head-to-head this weekend as the battle for top of the league continues. Both teams come into the weekend with six wins. Capitals’ forward Hailey Armstrong (7g-6a) remains atop the scoring race while teammate Brooklyn Hutchings (5g-6a), and Fraser Valley Rush forward Aynsley D’Ottavio (2g-9a), are just two points behind. Goaltender Karsyn Niven will look to add to her league-high two shutouts when the Capitals travel to take on the Vancouver Island Seals.

Northern Capitals @ Vancouver Island Seals – 9:40 a.m. – Fuller Lake Arena

Only one point separates the top four teams in the U18 AAA league, and this weekend will have huge implications on the standings. The first placed Vancouver NE Chiefs will host fourth placed Greater Vancouver Canadians, and the second placed Valley West Giants will host the third placed Vancouver NW Hawks. Goaltenders Oliver Auyeung-Ashton of the Chiefs and Adam Fischer of the Hawks will look to improve on their league-high four wins this year.

Valley West Giants @ Vancouver NW Hawks – 7:45 p.m. – North Shore Winer Club

Cariboo Cougars @ Fraser Valley Thunderbirds – 9:45 a.m. – Abbotsford Recreation Centre 

Vancouver NW Hawks @ Valley West Giants – 10:00 a.m. – Langley Events Centre

Greater Vancouver Canadians @ Vancouver NE Chiefs – 11:15 a.m. – Scotia Barn

Okanagan Rockets @ Thompson Blazers – 1:00 p.m. – Sandman Centre

Jamie Hikida (5g-1a) and Bryce Peter Doyle Strandt (6a) both recorded six-point weekends as the Greater Vancouver Canadians soared past the North Island Silvertips, scoring 21 goals along the way. The Okanagan Rockets, and their leading point scorer Ethan King (9g-3a), will hope to carry the momentum of an 11-goal weekend into their home-and-home matchup with the Thompson Blazers.

The Valley West Giants remain the only undefeated team in the U15 AAA league. Giants’ forward Coltan John White will look to build upon last weekend’s five-point performance (1g-4a) as his team prepare to face the South Island Royals. The Okanagan Rockets, who scored 17 goals last weekend thanks in-part to a six-point game from Kelsen Podwaorny (4g-2a) on Saturday, will host the Cariboo Cougars.
