CROMWELL REPORT ON HOCKEY CANADA RELEASED TODAY
For Immediate Release
November 4, 2022
Saanichton, B.C. – Today, the Honourable Thomas Cromwell, C.C. released his comprehensive review surrounding our National Sport Organization, Hockey Canada. To read the full report click HERE.
Beginning in August, as part of Hockey Canada’s Action Plan, Justice Cromwell led an independent review of the organization’s governance structures and systems.
The Interim Report was made available from Justice Cromwell in early-October, and the recommendations from his initial findings have already been adopted and enacted by Hockey Canada and their provincial members, including BC Hockey. The 13 provincial branches voted to receive the final report when, and only when, it was released publicly. The reasoning, full transparency to their memberships.
"With the release of Justice Cromwell’s report,” Chair of BC Hockey’s Board of Directors Stephanie White said, “the Board of BC Hockey will now begin a thorough review of the new materials as we continue to put in place the mechanisms that will help strengthen the culture of hockey and the sport overall. Our hope is that these recommendations will provide impactful change and will provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for our members and participants across British Columbia and Yukon.”
BC Hockey would like to encourage our members to reach out to us with any questions or comments on Justice Cromwell’s report. BC Hockey is the conduit for our members’ voices at the national level. We encourage members to reach out to us at chair@bchockey.net in regards to this matter.
