BC HOCKEY’S PROGRAM OF EXCELLENCE WOMEN'S IDENTIFICATION CAMPS OPEN FOR REGISTRATION

For Immediate Release
January 9, 2026
Saanichton, B.C. – BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence (POE) is proud to announce that registration is now open for the Women's U16/18 Identification Camps for the 2026 season.
For this season, athletes with the birth years of 2009 through 2012 will be eligible to participate at Identification Camps.
Identification Camps will be held on two separate weekends to give all interested athletes the opportunity to attend a camp. The U16/18 camps are held together and all athletes are placed on teams together. Athletes may attend either of the camps and are not obligated to attend the camp closest to their primary residence.
Please note that registration for the Identification Camps will be done on a first come, first served basis. Players who register after the camp has reached maximum capacity will be placed on a waitlist.
This year's Identification Camps are limited to residents of British Columbia. Due to the upcoming 2027 Canada Winter Games, Yukon will compete independently, and its athletes may try out for Team Yukon.
The POE is for Hockey Canada and BC Hockey members and is funded by their membership. Once players enter into the POE program after Identification Camps, to remain eligible, a player must remain a member for the full POE season through the completion of the event. If a player is not a member at any point, they forfeit their right to participate in the POE.
Players will need to choose one of the following two camps:
- April 10-12, 2026 – Salmon Arm, B.C. - Rogers Rink
- April 17-19, 2026 – Langley, B.C. - Langley Twin Rinks
To register for one of these camps, please visit the Women's Program of Excellence Page on the BC Hockey Website.
The deadline to register for the camps is March 27, 2026.
Each athlete attending the Identification Camps will receive one on-ice skill development session and will compete in three games. Full day-to-day schedules will be made available closer to the event dates.
From these camps, 76 athletes will be chosen to move onto the next stage of the roster selection process. Goalies will attend a specific session during the camp to determine if they are to progress through the weekend. The final roster will compete as the B.C. representatives at the 2027 Canada Winter Games in Quebec City, Quebec, March 7-15, 2027.
POE Camp Dates:
- Provincial Camp (Top 76) - July 23-26, 2026 (Chilliwack, B.C.)
- Christmas Camp (Top 26) - December 17-20, 2026
